New Jersey is the state that fought to overturn the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act. That law prevented the expansion of sports betting. It was nullified by the US Supreme Court in 2018. That opened the door to sports betting in more than half the states with legalized gambling.
Sports betting is legal at Atlantic City casinos, at racetracks, and on mobile betting apps. Online poker and online casino games are also legal. These games launched in 2013.
Casinos may only be in Atlantic City. These offer a wide variety of games.
New Jersey has a state lottery. Charities may operate games like bingo and raffle drawings for fundraising purposes. Horse racing is legal live, at off-track betting parlors and on mobile betting apps. Daily fantasy sports contests are also legal.
