Bonus Poker Deluxe Pay Tables and Strategy

Bonus Poker Deluxe is a popular video poker game. It is available on most multi-game machines. Online casinos also deal this game.

On some older video poker machines, Bonus Poker Deluxe may show on a multi-game screen as Bonus Poker. We saw this at Johnny Nolan’s in Cripple Creek, Colorado. The devices are quarter machines that still dispense coins.

Bonus Poker Deluxe pays one coin on two pair. It increases the payout for four of a kind to 80 per coin. Of all common video poker games that pay even money on two pair and increase quad payouts, Bonus Poker Deluxe has the lowest variance. Higher variance versions of this type of video poker include Double Bonus Poker, Double Double Bonus Poker, and Triple Double Bonus

While there is a 99.64% version of Bonus Poker Deluxe, it is usually not available. Its most common location is in Nevada locals casinos. The 9/6 version of Bonus Poker Deluxe is also available at many online casinos, like DraftKings.

The game is not usually the best available on a multi-game machine. An exception is Plaza in downtown Las Vegas, where it is the best bar game.

Bonus Poker Deluxe strategy

While there are some exceptions to the standard Bonus Poker Deluxe strategy, these make so little difference that it may be more trouble to learn them. The difference between the standard and perfect strategy in terms of the house advantage is about 0.002%.

Stand on any hand that is a full house or better. Also, stay pat on a flush or straight if it is not also a four-card royal flush. After that, follow the list below:

  • Four to a royal flush
  • Three of a kind
  • Four to any straight flush
  • Two pair
  • Pair of jacks or better
  • Three-card royal, except with ace and 10 with one face card
  • Four-card flush
  • All other three-card royal flush draws
  • Ten, jack, queen, and king
  • Pair of deuces to tens
  • Four to all other open-ended straights
  • Three suited connectors
  • Three straight flush cards with at least two nine or higher
  • Jack, queen, king, and ace
  • Two suited cards jack and higher
  • Four to an ace-high straight
  • Nine, jack, queen, and king
  • Three-card straight flush with one gap or one card jack or higher
  • Jack, queen, and king
  • Inside straight with two or more cards jack and higher
  • Jack and queen
  • Queen and king
  • Suited ten with jack or queen
  • Jack and king
  • Ace with a face card
  • Suited ten and king
  • Single card jack or higher
  • All remaining three-card straight flush draws
  • All remaining inside straight draws

If the hand you are dealt is not listed, discard all five cards and receive a fresh hand. Your discards will not return in the redraw.

Using a players card at Bonus Poker Deluxe

Video poker machines with Bonus Poker Deluxe usually accept a slot club card. This adds to the return of the game. Slot points accrue while you make Bonus Poker Deluxe bets. You may also receive additional value from mailers that include free slot play, hotel offers, and meals. A casino host may be offered if you give enough action.

This all helps reduce the house edge. If you can find full-pay Bonus Poker Deluxe, you may get the game’s return above 100%.
