There are 17 poker tables at the MotorCity Casino in downtown Detroit. The poker room is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 

Cash games are dealt at the MotorCity poker room. There are several promotions available to players.

MotorCity poker room cash games

Poker at MotorCity Casino in Detroit, Michigan

There are two standard games at the MotorCity poker room. The most common is 1/2 no-limit Texas hold’em. It has a buy-in range of $50 to $200. There is also a regular 2/5 no-limit hold’em game. Its buy-in is $200 to $800. Weekends and other peak hours may bring a larger no-limit hold’em game, pot-limit Omaha, or a mixed game.

MotorCity poker tournaments

As of April 2024, no tournaments are being held. There were once three weekly poker tournaments at MotorCity Casino. The times below are the tournaments dealt when the MotorCity poker room dealt tournaments earlier in 2022.

On Thursdays at 7:15pm, there was a $120 no limit hold’em tournament. Players started with 15,000 chips. Blinds increased every 20 minutes. Unlimited re-entries and late registration were permitted until the end of level seven. The admin fee for this tournament was $18, which is included in the $120 buy-in. 

On Mondays at the same time, the buy-in was $170, which added a $50 bounty. The admin fee here was $25. The structure was the same as the Thursday tournament. 

There was also a Sunday Deep Stack at 4:15pm for $140. Players started with 20,000 chips. Levels went up every 20 minutes. The admin fee was $20. 

The last Saturday of the month had the biggest MotorCity poker tournament. It started at 12:15pm. The buy-in was $300 for this no limit Texas hold’em event. The prize pool had a $100,000 guarantee with at least $20,000 for first place. Players started with 25,000 chips. Levels increase every 25 minutes. 

MotorCity poker room promotions

Active players are served complimentary food in the MotorCity poker room. The Poker VIP Club awards $200 quarterly to players who give 240 hours in cash game action in a quarter. Players that give 150 hours of action in a quarter receive $100 in cash. All VIP players get a free hotel room each month. The lower level must use the offer Monday through Thursday. The top tier can reserve a room any day of the week.

Players receive $1 an hour in comps while clocked in at limits below 2/5. Games at 2/5 and above games receive $2 an hour in comps. 

Players that make a royal flush in Texas hold’em using both hole cards receive $400. A straight flush pays $300. Quads win a $200 high hand bonus. A full house with aces up top wins $100.

There is a bad beat jackpot at the MotorCity poker room. It hits in Texas hold’em when a player loses any four of a kind. The winner and loser’s hole cards must be played. In Omaha games, quads 10’s or better must lose.

The losing hand receives 40% of the jackpot. The winning hand gets 20%. The rest is for table share. There are also high hands most days of the week.
