Poker Rooms in Michigan Casinos

There are seven poker rooms open in Michigan. One is in Detroit. Four are at tribal casinos in the Lower Peninsula. There are two open poker rooms in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

One Michigan tribal casino closed its poker room due to the pandemic in March 2020 and never reopened. Two of the three Detroit poker rooms closed in 2024.

All Michigan poker rooms offer cash games. Most also have tournaments. The main game is no-limit Texas hold’em.

Live poker at Bay Mills

The one poker table at Bay Mills are located in the table game pit. Poker is open the same hours as the pit, which is daily from 2pm until midnight. The typical cash game is 1/2 no-limit Texas hold’em. Tournaments are currently unavailable. Games do not run at all hours that the poker room is open.

Firekeepers poker room

The 26-table poker room at Firekeepers is open 7 days a week. The hours Sunday through Thursday are 9am to 4am. It is open 24 hours on from 9am Thursday to 4am Saturday.

There are up to 17 tournaments per week. These run daily at 12:15pm and 6:15pm. Monday through Thursday, it is a $65 no limit Texas hold’em tournament, except the Thursday night tournament is pot-limit Omaha. This is also a Friday, 12:15pm $65 NLHE tournament. Larger tournaments are offered on weekends. One is a pineapple event. The Firekeepers poker room is a stop on the Mid-States Poker Tour.

Gun Lake poker room

The eight-table poker room at Gun Lake is now open daily. It is closed from 4am until 10am on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. The main games are 1/2 and 1/3 no-limit hold’em (bomb pots) and 1/3 pot limit Omaha. Promotions involve high hands. Players receive $2 an hour in comps. There are three no-limit hold’em tournaments every week. These are a $125 event on Saturdays at 12:15pm and $60 ones at 7:15pm on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Island poker room

There are six tables at the Island poker room. It is open 6pm to 2am on Wednesday and Thursday, 11am to 3am on Friday, 6pm to 3am on Saturday, and 4pm to 2am on Sunday. It is closed on Monday and Tuesday. Players must be at least 18 years old. 

The main game is 1/3 no-limit Texas hold’em. The buy-in is $100 to $300. There are three weekly poker tournaments held at the Island poker room, Wednesday through Friday. All are no limit hold’em. The buy-ins range from $60 to $100. 

MGM Grand Detroit poker room

The MGM Grand poker room has 21 tables, 50% more than it did before the other Detroit poker rooms folded. The main games are 1/2 and 2/5 no-limit Texas hold’em. The buy-in is $50 to $300 at 1/2 and $200 to $1,000 at 2/5. Pot limit Omaha and mixed games run during busier hours.

MGM Grand Detroit deals poker tournaments again. It is held every Sunday at 11:30am. The game is no-limit hold’em. The buy-in is $300.   

Odawa poker room

The Odawa poker room is in Petoskey. It has six tables. It is open daily from 2pm to midnight. The main game is 1/3 no-limit Texas hold’em. The buy-in is $50 to $300. A 2/5 game runs occasionally with $200 to $500 buy-ins. The Odawa poker room does not deal tournaments.

Soaring Eagle poker room

The 14-table Soaring Eagle poker room is open Sunday through Thursday from 10am until 1:45am. It stays open two extra hours on weekends. There are bad beat jackpots for Omaha and hold’em. The losing hand in the Omaha bad beat jackpot wins $2000. The winning hand gets $100. The table share is $250. For hold’em, the bad beat recipient wins $4000. The winner gets $2000. The table share is $500. A $300 no-limit hold’em tournament is dealt every other Saturday at 12:30pm.

Michigan online poker rooms

In Michigan, three online poker rooms are regulated by the state. These are BetMGM, PokerStars, and WSOP. All deal Texas hold’em and Omaha, including cash games and tournaments.

Closed Michigan poker room

One Michigan poker room was open before the pandemic closure, but never returned. It is located at Kewadin Casino Sault Ste. Marie. Two closed in 2024.

Hollywood Casino at Greektown poker room – Closed June 2024

There were 10 tables at the Greektown poker room. The main game was 1/3 no-limit Texas hold’em. The buy-in range was $100 to $300. If 2/5 no-limit hold’em ran, the buy-in is $200 to $1,000.

There were three weekly no-limit hold’em poker tournaments at Hollywood Casino Greektown. These were suspended when it went dark in June 2024.

MotorCity poker room – Closed August 2024

The MotorCity poker room had 17 tables. Its main games were 1/2 , 2/5, and 5/10 no-limit Texas hold’em. The buy-in was $50 to $200 at 1/2, $200 to $800 at 2/5, and $500 to $2,000 at 5/10. Pot limit Omaha games ran sporadically. There was a mixed game most nights. 

Tournaments were not dealt at MotorCity Casino when the poker room closed.
