Best Crapless Craps Bets

Crapless craps, once only dealt as a novelty game at the Stratosphere in Las Vegas, is gaining in popularity. We found it at several Ohio casinos, as well as all over the Las Vegas Strip. It is not dealt at any legal online casinos.

There are several differences between craps and crapless craps. One is that there are no don’t bets on the felt. The pass line works nearly the same in crapless craps as it does in craps. However, the pass line and come bets in crapless craps can’t lose on the first roll. It wins on a 7. All other numbers become the point, even the 2, 3, 11, and 12.

Buying 2 and 12 are the best crapless craps bets

In most cases, the best crapless craps bets in terms of house edge is buying the 2 and 12 for $25 or $50. This pays 6/1, minus a 5% commission on the bet. A $25 bet on 2 and 12 pays $149. A $50 one pays $298. That makes the house edge 0.67%. Buying it for $20 or $40, or other $20 increments, has a house edge of 0.83%.

The house advantage on these bets is exceptional considering it pays 6/1. The player disadvantage on bets of this size tends to have a house edge of at least five times this one.

Buying the 3 and 11 also has great value

Buying the 3 and 11 pays 3/1 when it hits, minus a 5% commission on the original bet. A $25 buy on 3 or 11 pays $74. It pays $148 on $50. The house edge on these bets is 1.33%. Buying the 3 or 11 for $20, $40, or other $20 increments has a house advantage of 1.67%.

The math on buying 2, 3, 11, and 12 assume that the house only charges commission if the bet wins. If the commission must be paid upfront, these become some of the worst numbers to buy or place.

Crapless craps pass line and come

The pass line and come are essentially the same bet at a crapless craps table. The bet wins on a 7. Any other roll becomes the point. The player wins if the number comes before a 7.

The house edge of the pass line and come is 5.38% at crapless craps when not taking odds. There is no house edge on the odds taken. Every dollar in odds drops the overall house edge of the bet. The standard 3-4-5 times odds games have a house edge around 1.3%, depending on the maximum allowed on the 2, 3, 11, and 12.

A five-times crapless craps game, like the one found at Sahara in Las Vegas, has a house edge of just over one percent. The 10 times crapless craps games, like the ones available in Ohio casinos and at The Strat in Las Vegas, have a house edge of around 0.6%. Note that all of these numbers are worse than traditional craps with the same odds.

Buy 4 and 10

Buying the 4 or 10 is the same in crapless craps as it is in traditional craps. When buying these numbers for $25 or $50, the house edge is 1.33% in casinos that only require paying a commission if it wins. It goes to 1.67% on bets in $20 increments. These numbers assume the commission is only paid on a win. If the juice must be paid upfront, the house edge grows exponentially.

Place 6 and 8

Placing the 6 and 8 is always a good value. That is no different at crapless craps. These numbers will not usually get you rich, but only have a house edge of 1.52%.

Playing the field when it pays triple on 12

The field bet is the same for crapless craps as in the traditional game. Many casinos pay triple on 12. This includes MGM Resorts casinos in Las Vegas, all of which now deal crapless craps. The house edge on this bet when the field pays triple on 12 is 2.78%. It goes to 5.56% if the 2 and 12 both pay double.
