Famous Bonanza Casino is on Main Street in downtown Central City, Colorado. It is home to about 250 slot machines. It opened in 1992, just as casinos were legalized in Colorado. 

There are no table games, hotel rooms, or sportsbooks at Famous Bonanza Casino. It is a unique family-owned operation with a variety of mostly older slot machines that drop coins. Its sister casino is Easy Street Casino. Both use the same players card. 

Famous Bonanza Casino opens daily at 8am. It closes at 2am on weeknights and 3am on weekends.

Famous Bonanza Casino

Over 100 slot machines at Famous Bonanza are old-style coin ones. There are unique and rare titles available here, like Kenny Rogers Gambler, Five Times Pay, Triple Double Diamond, and Red, White, and Blue. Coin games start at a nickel and run up to $5. Almost half of the coin games we found during our 2021 visit were still available. Many had been converted into modern ticket-in/ticket-out games.

Many machines dispense coins to winners. Jackpots require hand pays on these machines, even if below the $1,200 IRS taxable threshold. There are many of ticket-in/ticket-out machines. This includes the bar video poker.

The only video poker games we found were at the bar. The denominations are dime and quarter. There is a progressive for royal flushes and four aces, depending on the game. Titles include 8/5 Double Bonus, 7/5 White Hot Aces, 9/5 Double Double Bonus, and 8/5 Triple Double Bonus.

There was one bank of Casino Wizard machines offering baccarat, blackjack, craps, and double zero roulette. These heads-up versions have a $1 minimum bet, except blackjack which has a $3 minimum. Be cautious, blackjack pays 6:5. All four games have a $300 maximum bet.
