Craps tables are commonly found at casinos in states that permit dice games. Dice games are still restricted in some casino states. A few states permit card games, but not games determined by dice. Some of these states, however, allow for virtual dice, permitting craps to be offered only in limited electronic table game form.

Electronic table games allow casinos without live tables to offer electronic versions of popular games like craps, as well as baccarat, blackjack, and roulette. It can also be in addition to a live pit.

Hybrid craps games

Like a traditional craps table, hybrid craps games have a stickman. However, the other three positions are not staffed. The electronic screens allow players to place their own bets, so there are no dealers or a boss. While it works differently, players still take turns throwing dice at a hybrid craps table.

Roll to Win craps tables

One common hybrid craps table is the Roll to Win craps machine. Commonly found amongst the other live table games, these tables have a glass top that displays an electronic version of the craps felt. Other information is also displayed, such as the current point and last roll.

Players stand around the Roll to Win table at a betting screen and take turns rolling the dice like a live table. However, due to cheating scandals, most casinos will not allow the middle table positions to roll the dice. These two betting screens might even be missing or turned off at some casinos.

Interblock live dealer craps

Another common form is the Interblock electronic craps tables. These are also commonly connected to a nearby stadium setup. On the stadium, wagers are placed on the live dealer craps table option. Stadium players are not given a chance to throw the dice but may wager similar to an auto-roll version.

At these tables, players move to stand at the end of the table when throwing the dice. The original betting screen is temporarily deactivated by the dealer, moving the betting options to a screen near the end where each player throws the dice.

Different electronic craps machines

In addition to hybrid craps games, there are multiple types of electronic craps games. Some are video versions while others roll dice in a bubble.

Auto-roll craps machines

The most commonly found craps ETGs have oversized dice that bounce and roll in a bubble(s). These games may be heads-up versions or multiplayer games. Most versions have two dice in a bubble that bounce around and the bottom “pops” before stopping, allowing the dice to rest in place. A camera reads the dice results and the appropriate wagers are paid out on or collected from each player’s betting screen.

There is a new version that allows players to choose which dice they want to count as their roll. There are three bubbles, one green, one yellow, and one red, each with a single die. Players select two colors to make up their dice roll for one of three possible dice outcomes. So, neighboring players with the same wagers could receive different payouts for each roll if they choose different dice combinations.

Video craps games

On Casino Wizard machines and some stadiums, craps games may use virtual dice on the video screen. While most of the stadium craps machines use the above-mentioned oversized dice, a few have been spotted with virtual dice options also. All games on Casino Wizard machines are video.
