Rocky Gap Casino Resort is in western Maryland. It is in a remote part of the state, surrounded by State Park lands. The resort offers amenities related to its neighboring Rocky Gap State Park. There are also a hotel, spa, casino, and restaurant.

Rocky Gap Casino Resort is operated by Golden Entertainment. The same company owns The Strat in Las Vegas, as well as other gaming properties throughout the country. However, the company announced that it plans to sell the operations of the property to Century Casinos. The hope is to close the sale in 2023.

Rocky Gap Casino

There is a table game pit near the entrance of the casino. It includes most typical pit games. We visited on a weekday afternoon and found the following minimum bets:

Rocky Gap video poker

The video poker that we found was average. Our top pick is 9/6/5 Double Bonus, which is available in quarter, half-dollar, and dollar. Other single-line games are Double Double Bonus with a progressive, Bonus Poker, Deuces Wild, Jacks or Better, and Triple Double Bonus. 

Video poker variants are available in nickel, dime, and quarter denominations. The titles include Ultimate X, Ultimate X Bonus Streak, Spin Poker, Super Times Pay, Double Pay, and 3/5/10-play. These machines are the same at the bar as they are on the floor. 

Sports viewing lounge

Rocky Gap Resort is the only Maryland casino without a sportsbook. However, it has a sports viewing lounge with a video wall.

True Rewards players club

True Rewards is the players club for Rocky Gap Casino. Slot and video keno players earn a point for every dollar wagered. It takes $2 to earn a point at video poker. Table games are rated based on the bet size, time played, and house edge. Points may be converted at a rate of 300 per $1 in food and retail comps, 500 per $1 for free slot play, and 1,000 per $1 for cash back.

Dining and drinks at Rocky Gap

There are three restaurants at Rocky Gap Casino Resort. Lakeside Grille replaced Lakeside Restaurant. Menu items include a fillet with Maryland crab, calamari fries, and Maryland crab cakes. The upscale steakhouse has views of the lake.

Lobby Lounge & Cafe has quick bites available. Breakfast options include breakfast sandwiches and bagels, muffins, and yogurt. Other quick bites include snacks, salads, sandwiches, and desserts.

At the golf course, Signatures Bar & Grill features live entertainment from April through October. This casual grill serves burgers, wings, chicken tenders, pizza, and drinks. Outside patio dining is available, weather permitting. Bar service extends until midnight on Friday and Saturday.

On the casino floor, On the Rocks is open 24 hours daily. This video poker bar serves beer and cocktails. Open seasonally, the Terrace Bar is located on the casino’s back patio. It’s an outdoor bar that serves specialty cocktails and draft beer.

The hotel at Rocky Gap Casino Resort has 216 guest rooms and suites. Resort amenities include a conference center, Bonkerz Comedy Club, a golf course, a spa, an indoor pool, a fitness center, and complimentary valet or self-parking. The spa features facials, massages, salon services, waxing, and nail services.

The golf course is Maryland’s only Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. Five tee boxes per hole allow players of various levels to enjoy the 18-hole course. The 7,000-yard course is a par 72. Club rentals, putting greens, chipping areas, and a 50-spot driving range are also available.

Rooms

All rooms at Rocky Gap Casino Resort include WiFi and a flat-screen TV. The 318-square-foot rooms have either a single king or two queen beds. Resort-view rooms feature views of the 18-hole golf course. Views of Lake Habeeb are available in mountain view rooms.

Suites

The suites at Rocky Gap are two-room suites, each featuring a king bed. The separate sitting room has a queen-size sleeper sofa. Views of the golf course and Lake Habeeb are available.
