Grand Z Casino is the largest in Central City. It is open 24 hours a day. It is walkable from all downtown Central City casinos in nice weather. 

Grand Z offers a shuttle to Z Casino, its sister property in Black Hawk. Dragon Tiger, formerly Johnny Z’s Casino, Grand Z’s Central City sister property, is just a few minutes by foot away.

There are over 700 slot machines at Grand Z Casino. Most are penny or reel slots. There is also a wide selection of video poker that is part of that total. Grand Z Casino offers eight table games and four electronic ones. There is a hotel and lounge with musical acts on the property.

Grand Z Casino

There are two different types of blackjack tables at Grand Z Casino. Most games use six decks. US Casino Advantage found a double-deck game. Players may double down before and after splitting and re-split aces at six-deck games. Re-split aces is not permitted at double-deck. Blackjack pays 3:2 and hits soft 17. During our August 2024 trip, we found limits of $10 to $500.

The other table games at Grand Z Casino are craps, Three Card Poker, and double zero roulette. Craps has ten times odds. The field pays double on 12. The minimum bet is generally $10. Three Card Poker was $5. Table games are open from 10am until 2am Thursday through Sunday.

There is a large selection of video table games. Blackjack is available with a $1 minimum. Double down before and after splitting is allowed. Blackjack pays 3:2. The dealer hits soft 17. Be cautious, the blackjack with a $5 minimum bet paid 6:5 on a blackjack. The other three video table games are baccarat, craps, and double zero roulette. Roulette has a quarter minimum. Baccarat and craps are one dollar. 

Heads-up versions are available on the Casino Wizard machines. Options include blackjack, craps, and roulette. The blackjack pays 6:5 and has a $3 minimum bet. The other options are a $1 minimum. These versions have a $300 maximum bet.

Video poker

There are some good quarter and dollar video poker games. One bank has 8/5 Bonus Poker, 9/6 Double Double Bonus, and Triple Double Bonus. These machines have a progressive on the dollar denomination. The video poker at the bar is a step below what is found here. 

There are some high limit machines with $1, $2, and $5 denominations. Games include 9/6 Bonus Poker Deluxe, 8/6 Jacks or Better, 8/5 White Hot Aces, and a variety of wild card games. 

There is a unique selection of video poker variants that matches many Las Vegas casinos. It starts with the standard three, five, and ten-play games. There is also Ultimate X, Ultimate X Bonus Streak, Powerhouse Poker, Super 6 Card, and Spin Poker. 

Maverick sportsbook

Maverick Sports operated the Grand Z Casino sportsbook. It was located near the table game pit. It offered three levels of seating and several large televisions. The sportsbook closed in July 2023. This was a few weeks after Maverick Sports ceased operations of its betting site. Two Caesars Sportsbook kiosks are available near the craps table.

Club Z players card

Grand Z uses the Club Z. It is also accepted at Z Casino in Black Hawk. Video poker players earn one point for every $2 wagered. Points may be redeemed for cash at $5. Active players receive weekly emails that include up to $20 in free play, food comps, and multiplier days.

There is also a way for players to earn a free bus ride by generating points during a day trip. Players receive $30 in Z-play when earning 150 same-day points or $35 in Z-play when 500 same-day points are earned.

Dining at Grand Z

There are three dining options at Grand Z Casino. Located near the casino floor, Z Café serves Starbucks coffee, pizza, sandwiches, and ice cream.

Grand Bistro is an upscale restaurant. The menu features bass, rosemary chicken, pork chops, rack of lamb, steak dishes, and a wine selection.

The Grill serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast features the double-down breakfast, huevos rancheros, and breakfast burritos. Lunch and dinner include burgers, sandwiches, country-fried steak or chicken, fried shrimp, baby back ribs, and prime rib.

Grand Z Hotel

Grand Z Casino welcomes guests 21 years of age or older to its hotel consisting of 119 non-smoking rooms renovated in 2018. All rooms include an iron/ironing board, wireless internet, TV, and refrigerator. Rooms are subject to a $8.99 plus tax resort fee per room per night. 

The hotel offers five room types. Standard rooms are available with a single king bed or two queen beds and feature a workspace area. For an upgraded view featuring a king bed, the View King is available. The Deluxe rooms offer additional square footage than the Standard rooms. They are available with a single king or two queen beds. Pet-friendly rooms are also available.
