Colorado sports betting became legal on May 1, 2020. This occurred while tribal casinos and those located in Black Hawk, Central City, and Cripple Creek were closed due to the pandemic. Online sports betting on computers and mobile devices went live at that time in Colorado. There were few sports to bet on at the time. Casinos started to reopen in June. Casinos began debuting retail sportsbooks. Some consist solely of a betting window or kiosks. Others constructed sports betting lounges. More are under development.

Colorado mobile sportsbooks
There are over 25 online sportsbooks in operation in Colorado. These companies are partnered with casinos in Black Hawk, Central City, Cripple Creek, or tribal casinos. Each Colorado mobile betting app is licensed in the same way the state’s casinos are. Sports betting on these apps is completely legal. It is regulated by the Colorado Division of Gaming.
Bettors must be at least 21 years old. Bets must be made within Colorado state lines where geolocation services are available. Accounts may be made on phones or websites. There is no need to go to the casino to bet on sports. Deposits and withdrawals are made securely directly on the app.
Professional and college sports are on the board at Colorado sportsbooks. Teams like the Denver Broncos, Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Rockies, and Denver Nuggets are available for wagering. College betting is legal in Colorado, including in-state games. However, individual prop bets are not permitted under gaming regulations.
Bally Bet
Bally Bet is licensed through Bally’s Casino in Black Hawk. There is no retail Bally Bet sportsbook in Colorado. It is only available online and as a mobile app.
Bet Monarch
Bet Monarch is branded with Monarch Casino in Black Hawk. A new sportsbook opened on the third floor. The sportsbook opens at 11am Monday through Friday and at 9am on weekends.
BetMGM Sportsbook
BetMGM is partnered with Midnight Rose Casino in Cripple Creek. It is a joint venture between MGM Resorts and GVC Holdings.
BetRivers
BetRivers is licensed with J.P. McGill’s in Cripple Creek. In-person betting can be made at the casino or bets can be placed on the mobile app.
Caesars Sportsbook

Caesars Sportsbook initially launched as William Hill in Colorado. It is licensed through an agreement with Horseshoe Casino and Lady Luck in Black Hawk. There are sports betting kiosks at both properties.
Circa Sports

Circa Sports is based in Nevada. It is operated by the same owners as Circa, Golden Gate, and The D casinos in downtown Las Vegas. Circa is partnered with Century Casino, which has operations in Central City and Cripple Creek. While there is no physical sportsbook in Colorado, wagers can be placed using the app or online.
DraftKings
DraftKings started as a daily fantasy sports operator. It fits naturally into the new Colorado sports betting landscape. DraftKings partnered with Bally’s Black Hawk North. It built a sportsbook on the property that includes a viewing area and a nearby bar.

ESPN Bet
ESPN Bet is the sports betting brand at Ameristar in Black Hawk. The casino currently offers sports betting kiosks and a betting counter. Located on the second floor, it features a 24-foot video wall and 29 TVs. Betting windows are available daily from at least 10am until 10pm. There are longer hours on weekends. Kiosks are available 24 hours a day.

Golden Nugget
ISI is the sportsbook for Golden Nugget in Cripple Creek. There is a sports lounge with betting kiosks at the bar and elsewhere on the property.

FanDuel
FanDuel is another major name in the daily fantasy sports industry that moved to sports betting. It is also partnered with Bally’s in Black Hawk.
Smarkets
SBK, powered by Smarkets, is the mobile sportsbook app licensed through Bronco Billy’s. It can be downloaded on Google Play, through the Apple app store, and on Android.
Approved sports wagers in Colorado
Most professional sports leagues and NCAA sports are approved. Similar to other states, wagering on high school sports and equivalent-level clubs is prohibited.
Events approved by the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission include Australian Rules Football, badminton, bare knuckle fighting, baseball, basketball, biathlon, bowling, boxing, chess, cornhole, cricket, cycling, darts, disc, e-sports, floorball, football, futsal, Gaelic games, golf, handball, hockey (ice and field), jai-alai, lacrosse, MiniGolf, MMA, motorsports, netball, Olympics, pesäpallo, pool, rodeo, rugby league, rugby union, sailing, SlapFight, snooker, soccer, swimming, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, water polo, windsurfing, and wrestling.
Additional sporting events are approved as summer and winter athletics. Multiple events governed by the Major Eating League are also approved. Events include Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest and the DraftKings World Halloween Candy Eating Championship.
Closed Colorado sports betting apps
Betfred Sports

Betfred was partnered with Saratoga Casino in Black Hawk. It had multiple betting windows, sports betting kiosks, and a 1,400-square-foot sportsbook on the property. It ceased operations in August 2024.
BetSafe
BetSafe was partnered with Dostal Alley Casino in Central City. It ceased operations in September 2024.
Betway
The Famous Bonanza Casino in Central City was Betway’s sports betting partner in Colorado. Betway ceased operations in 2024.
ClutchBet
Mobile and online sports betting was available in Colorado through ClutchBet. It was licensed through a partnership with Wild Card Saloon Casino. However, it ceased operations in Septemeber 2024.
Elite Sportsbook
Red Dolly Casino in Black Hawk was Elite Sportsbook’s partner in Colorado. A kiosk was available on the casino floor. Wagers were accepted online and through its mobile app. On June 5, 2023, Elite Sportsbook closed its Colorado operations.
Maverick Sports

Maverick Sports was the mobile betting app for Grand Z Casino, Dragon Tiger Casino, and Z Casino. The sportsbook is open at Grand Z Casino, and there are kiosks available at Dragon Tiger and Z Casino. The sports betting app launched in 2021. However, on June 30, 2023, the mobile app was taken offline. In July 2023, its retail operations closed.
SI Sportsbook
Sports Illustrated branded the SI Sportsbook. Its sports betting partner in Colorado was Colorado Grande. Sports betting kiosks were available inside Johnny Nolon’s and Colorado Grande before it ceased operations in 2024.
Sky Ute
The Sky Ute SportsBook was operated by US Bookmaking. The company is based in Nevada. Sports wagering was available online and through its mobile app. However, on June 30, 2023, Sky Ute closed its Colorado sports betting operations.
Superbook

Westgate iss home to the world-famous Superbook in Las Vegas. The same group offered the Superbook sports betting app in Colorado. It was known for taking large and sharp wagers. Superbook was licensed through The Lodge in Black Hawk. It ceased Colorado operations in 2024.
TwinSpires
TwinSpires, once operated as BetAmerica, was the sportsbook kiosk operator for Bronco Billy’s. In 2022, TwinSpires left the Colorado sports betting market.
